Why conditioned packaging matters

When you’re shipping fresh flowers across continents, logistics and timing matters. Temperature changes can shorten shelf life, affect color, or cause wilting long before the shipment arrives. That’s why Tuning has perfected a conditioned packaging process that maintains stable conditions from our facility in Aalsmeer all the way to your destination.

Controlled environments from start to finish

Everything begins in our climate-controlled workspace, kept around 61°F (16°C) to preserve freshness during sorting and packing. Once prepared, boxes are moved directly into cooling storage to prevent even the slightest temperature shift. It’s a system designed to keep moisture and quality consistent before shipping begins.

The vacuum cooling process

Vacuum cooling is where precision meets performance. In just minutes, the internal temperature of each shipment drops from about 61°F to 39°F (16°C to 4°C), creating the ideal transport condition. This rapid, even cooling slows natural aging and prevents condensation or mold, which is crucial for long-distance air freight to destinations like the United States.

Packaging built for protection

Our packaging is designed to keep every shipment stable and secure. We use durable boxes in standardized sizes that fit tightly on aircraft pallets, preventing movement during transport. Once packed, each pallet is built in-house, shrink-wrapped, and securely strapped for maximum stability. Combined with vacuum cooling before departure, this approach helps maintain product quality from Aalsmeer to its destination.

A fully controlled cold chain

After vacuum cooling, shipments remain in cold storage until departure. Temperature and GPS recorders track each shipment throughout its journey, providing full visibility into conditions and timing. This traceability guarantees freshness.
